KS2 Tutor for Year 6 Student with ASD/ADHD

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate KS2 tutor to support a Year 6 learner with ASD and ADHD who is currently out of education. The role is home‑based initially, offering up to 10 hours per week from September, with the aim of re‑engaging the young person in learning at a comfortable pace.

Key responsibilities

• Build a trusting, nurturing relationship with the learner.
• Conduct an initial baseline assessment to identify current attainment and gaps.
• Introduce KS2 Maths and English in an accessible, pressure‑free manner.
• Develop confidence, resilience and readiness for more structured learning.
• Support the transition to a formal educational setting when a placement is secured.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience in education or children’s care.
• Understanding of the needs of learners with ASD and ADHD.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt teaching to individual pace.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of KS2 Maths curriculum.
• Strong knowledge of KS2 English curriculum.
