Lab Technician & Administrative Support

About the role

We are looking for a Lab Tech, Admin Support to join our dynamic and thriving Histology team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to step into the world of forensics, while learning and developing key laboratory and administration skills.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, check, label and record specimens, maintaining accurate identification, traceability and confidentiality.
• Enter and retrieve case and specimen information using laboratory and administrative systems.
• Store, retrieve, archive and dispose of specimens, blocks, slides and records in accordance with procedures.
• Undertake defined specimen‑preparation and routine laboratory tasks following training and competency assessment.
• Clean and decontaminate work areas and equipment and manage laboratory waste safely.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance within the limits of the role.
• Monitor consumables, prepare orders and assist with stock control.
• Support document control, filing, correspondence and other general laboratory administration.
• Follow health and safety, quality‑management and information‑governance requirements.

Required profile

• Educated to A Level.
• Excellent attention to detail and integrity at all times.
• Great communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to learn and ability to work to strict deadlines.
• Initiative and a proactive approach to work and personal development.
