Lead Auditor – Management Systems & Cable Products

About the role

BASEC, part of the Kiwa UK Group, is seeking a Lead Auditor to deliver management‑system and product audits for cable manufacturers, distributors and traders. The role involves frequent national and international travel to client sites, offering a varied and challenging field‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management‑system audits and product audits under the Construction Products Regulation (Cables).
• Select cable samples on‑site and witness MV, HV and fire testing.
• Respond to client inquiries and provide technical feedback to the Certification Office.
• Review audit reports, address non‑conformities and maintain accurate documentation.
• Support the Certification Team with audit preparation, certificate decisions (when authorised) and complaint resolution.
• Use CRM tools such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics to manage audit records.

Required profile

• Successful completion of a CQI/IRCA recognised lead auditor course for ISO 9001.
• Proven ability to meet targets and work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, nationally and internationally.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• ISO 9001 lead auditor certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (desirable).
• Experience with CRM systems – Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Understanding of cable testing procedures (MV, HV, fire).
