Lead Buyer

About the role

The Lead Buyer will shape the organisation's technology landscape by managing diverse procurement activities across multiple IT categories. Working on an international scale, you will collaborate with teams across the UK and Europe while enjoying a flexible, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement processes for a wide range of IT categories, including enterprise and engineering software, SaaS solutions, cyber‑security products, networks, hardware, AI technologies and high‑performance computing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the UK and Europe to understand business needs and deliver procurement solutions that align with organisational objectives.
• Lead large‑scale procurement projects under the guidance of Category Managers, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with policies.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external suppliers at national and international levels to achieve best‑value outcomes.
• Negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms while maintaining quality standards and minimising risk.

Required profile

• Proven experience in IT‑specific procurement or broader indirect purchasing with a strong interest in technology markets.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently or within a team, meeting deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for negotiations and cross‑functional meetings.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport quickly with diverse colleagues and international suppliers.

Required skills

• Experience with procurement of enterprise software, SaaS, cyber‑security, AI and high‑performance computing solutions.
• Contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
