Lead Manager – Trade Planning

About the role

ASDA is seeking a Lead Manager for Trade Planning to join its Commercial team. This senior position will drive the development and execution of trade plans across food, grocery‑manufactured (GM) and events channels.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Business Unit Directors to translate strategic trade plans into actionable customer and channel initiatives.
• Collaborate with category, customer and central operations teams using analytics to build winning trading plans.
• Develop and own the strategic promotional and event space plan as part of the overall category strategy.
• Design and run post‑launch review processes for large‑scale, cross‑functional events.
• Lead and provide direction to unit‑level teams to ensure effective trade plan delivery.
• Measure and improve trade plan execution performance across all channels.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail, category management, buying, marketing or trade planning.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to build, motivate and guide teams through change.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to read market and competitive dynamics quickly.
• Data‑driven decision‑making skills and the capacity to develop strategy from insights.
• Confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders at senior director and VP level.
