Lead Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Provide technical support and leadership to the Production and Logistics departments, identifying operational improvements and developing processes that meet quality, cost and efficiency targets. Drive the implementation of new manufacturing cells, NPI projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Set goals and standards for Manufacturing Engineers, Junior Engineers and Technicians, and guide them to achieve operational and NPI targets.
• Develop, monitor and report key performance metrics, and maintain departmental procedures and training records.
• Design and develop lean manufacturing cells, assembly and testing fixtures, and associated process control plans (PCP, VCP, TCP), FMEAs and SOPs.
• Lead cost‑reduction and process‑efficiency projects, producing documentation of savings and efficiencies.
• Manage projects within agreed timeframes and budgets, supporting prototype builds and NPI activities.

Required profile

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (apprenticeship preferred).
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with project management responsibility.
• Working knowledge of CAD systems (Creo, AutoCAD) and of hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
• Strong understanding of lean principles (Kaizen, 5S, Kanban) and Six Sigma qualification is advantageous.
