Lead Technician – Aviation Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Technician to oversee and perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities for a leading UK independent MRO specialising in Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The role is based at our St Athan facility and offers the chance to work within a supportive, innovation‑driven team focused on quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate technicians, mechanics, junior mechanics, ASWs and apprentices within the assigned maintenance zone.
• Allocate and prioritise tasks according to aircraft check status, operational requirements and resource availability.
• Oversee complex maintenance tasks to ensure quality, regulatory compliance and company standards.
• Support engineers and department supervisors with technical and operational assistance.
• Order, control and manage aircraft spares and materials.
• Ensure accurate completion of maintenance documentation and adherence to approved data.
• Enforce safety policies, report errors or near‑misses and promote a strong safety culture.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and maintain clean, FOD‑free work zones.
• Monitor time recording for the team and contractors, and mentor apprentices and new joiners.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising and coordinating maintenance staff in an aviation environment.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance regulations and safety procedures.
• Ability to allocate tasks, manage spares and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high‑quality standards.
