Lead Technician – Unlicensed Medicines & Purchasing Support

About the role

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lead Technician to manage unlicensed and named‑patient medicines procurement and support pharmacy purchasing activities. The role is primarily based at the Sutton site with occasional cross‑site work, and involves close collaboration with clinical teams and pharmaceutical companies.

Key responsibilities

• Procure and coordinate the supply of named‑patient and unlicensed medicines.
• Manage compassionate supply programmes run by pharmaceutical industry partners.
• Support the procurement of commercial medicines when required.
• Provide education and training to pharmacy staff and clinical teams on unlicensed medicines processes.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with trust policies.

Required profile

• Strong communication and numeracy abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Motivation to deliver high‑quality patient care.

Required skills

• Experience in pharmacy procurement or medicines supply management.
• Familiarity with unlicensed and named‑patient medicine regulations.
