Learning Mentor – East London (Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to support learners across colleges and sixth forms in East London. This temporary, ongoing position focuses on academic guidance and pastoral care, helping students develop effective study habits and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group mentoring on study skills, organization, time management and exam preparation.
• Assist learners in interpreting assignment briefs, planning work and fostering independent learning.
• Create personalised support plans based on individual needs.
• Guide students through transitions into further education or employment.
• Offer a safe environment for discussing personal concerns and promote wellbeing.
• Identify and appropriately escalate mental‑health or safeguarding issues.
• Encourage regular attendance, punctuality and positive behaviour.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience working with young adults in an educational setting.
• Awareness of mental‑health and safeguarding protocols.
• Ability to motivate and build confidence in learners.
