Learning Mentor – Year 5 & 6 (Primary School)

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Learning Mentor to support Year 5 and Year 6 pupils in a Brent‑based primary school. The role focuses on building confidence, strengthening academic skills and preparing students for the end‑of‑Key Stage 2 SATs.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions in English and Mathematics.
- Work alongside class teachers to reinforce learning objectives and identify pupils needing extra help.
- Support Year 5 pupils with a smooth transition into Year 6 by developing key literacy, numeracy and study skills.
- Monitor pupil progress, keep accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
- Liaise with teachers and parents/carers to provide updates on progress.
- Assist with SATs preparation, revision sessions and examination techniques.
- Promote positive behaviour, independence and effective learning habits.
Required profile
- A caring, enthusiastic and patient individual with a passion for helping children succeed.
- Experience working with primary‑aged children, especially within Key Stage 2.
- Good understanding of the Year 5 and Year 6 curriculum in English and Mathematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to monitor and record progress.
Required skills
- Knowledge of the Year 5 and Year 6 English and Mathematics curriculum.
- Experience delivering one‑to‑one and small‑group academic interventions.
