Learning Support Assistant – Psychology Graduate

About the role
We are seeking a recent psychology graduate to join our specialist school in Oxford as a Learning Support Assistant. The role starts in September and offers a long‑term, full‑time placement working directly with children who have a range of additional needs.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing disorders, physical disabilities and communication challenges.
- Observe and help identify triggers and barriers to learning, applying psychological theory in small‑group or one‑to‑one settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, psychologists, therapists and speech‑language teams to create a safe, supportive classroom environment.
- Assist in adapting learning activities to meet individual cognitive, behavioural and emotional needs.
Required profile
- Recent graduate in Psychology (or related field).
- Enthusiastic, friendly and proactive attitude with a genuine interest in special education.
- Basic understanding of SEN (Special Educational Needs) concepts.
- Any prior experience working with children (e.g., babysitting, sports coaching, volunteer work) is advantageous.
Required skills
- Strong observational and communication abilities.
- Ability to apply psychological concepts in practical classroom settings.
