Learning Support Assistant – Term‑time role in Horsham

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant school community in Horsham on a term‑time, one‑year supply basis. The role focuses on supporting individual pupils or small groups in Reception and Year 1, including children with special educational needs, across the curriculum.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher with learning activities for groups or individual pupils.
- Prepare and adapt resources to meet specific learning needs.
- Maintain regular communication with the teacher regarding pupil progress.
- Support planning and assessment tasks as directed by the teacher.
- Deliver specialist interventions under the guidance of the Inclusion Leader.
- Help pupils with SEN integrate socially and academically.
- Manage pupil behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
- Adapt the classroom environment to suit individual requirements.
- Provide midday supervision, set up activities and administer first aid (training provided).
- Participate in professional development, INSET days and progress meetings.
Required profile
- Experience supporting children in an educational setting, particularly those with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of tasks to meet school needs.
