Lecturer – Applied Science (Chemistry & Physics)

About the role

The School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Professional at Kingston College is seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer to deliver BTEC Applied Science Level 2 & 3 programmes, specialising in Chemistry and Physics. You will work closely with the Head of Section and course teams to ensure students achieve and exceed their target grades while enjoying a high‑quality learning experience.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess BTEC Applied Science lessons in Chemistry and Physics.
• Develop teaching schemes, coursework and externally set assessments.
• Monitor student progress and intervene to support learners who need extra help.
• Collaborate with the Head of Section, Team Leader and other faculty members to maintain academic standards.
• Contribute to the development of additional programmes within the school as required.

Required profile

• Degree or relevant professional qualification in a science discipline.
• Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
• Proven experience delivering BTEC vocational programmes.
• Recent, relevant CPD with awareness of academic quality standards.
• Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for education, with the ability to motivate and empathise with learners.
• Creative problem‑solving mindset and openness to new ideas and technologies.
