Lecturer in Robot Learning (Permanent)

About the role

The School of Engineering at UWE Bristol is seeking a permanent Lecturer in Robot Learning. This full‑time position will shape engineering education across robotics, autonomous systems, AI and related fields, while supporting research and knowledge exchange.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate modules covering robot learning, perception, planning and control.
• Mentor and supervise students on projects and dissertations.
• Develop and lead research activities within the Bristol Robotics Laboratory.
• Contribute to curriculum development, scholarly publications and grant proposals.
• Engage with industry partners to align teaching and research with real‑world applications.

Required profile

• PhD (or near completion) in Robotics, AI or a closely related discipline, or equivalent industry experience with a postgraduate qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to teach complex technical subjects at university level (teaching qualification desirable).
• Strong research orientation with a record of publications or clear plans to build a research portfolio in robot learning.
