Legal Cashier – Client Account Management

About the role

Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a dedicated Legal Cashier to manage client account transactions and ensure compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all client account transactions comply with SRA Accounts Rules.
• Process and post client account CHAPS, SWIFT and Faster Payments receipts and payments across banking platforms (RBS, BOS, HSBC, Barclays).
• Perform regular checks on client accounts to eliminate residual balances.
• Produce and review weekly reports for matter housekeeping and flag potential COFA breaches.
• Coordinate with fee‑earning departments to return funds according to the Weekly Client Residual Balance Report.
• Provide cover for bank reconciliation and monitor the Cashiers Mailbox, responding to queries promptly.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a cashiering environment within the legal sector.
• Strong knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
• Confident in dealing with partners and discussing file‑related issues.
• Ability to prioritise tasks under tight deadlines.
• Methodical, accuracy‑focused approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Team‑player with flexibility to work additional hours at month, quarter and year ends.
