Legal Cashier – Full‑time position in Southend‑on‑Sea

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join a busy law firm in Southend‑on‑Sea. The role involves managing client and office accounts, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, and supporting the finance function of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Process client and office transactions, including receipts, payments and electronic transfers (CHAPS, BACS).
• Maintain daily banking operations and perform bank reconciliations.
• Post bills, disbursements and transfers, and reconcile client and office ledgers.
• Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and internal procedures.
• Assist with month‑end procedures, financial reporting and audit preparation.
• Support fee earners with financial queries and liaise with banks, clients and suppliers.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
• Good working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
