Legal Cashier – Glasgow or Edinburgh

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join the finance team of a leading UK law firm. The role will be based primarily in Glasgow, with candidates from Edinburgh also considered, and involves handling client and office financial transactions with a high level of accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Recording day‑to‑day client and office financial transactions
• Identifying and allocating client receipts
• Processing client and office payments
• Raising and paying in cheques
• Managing deposit account transactions, including lodgements, uplifts, closures and new accounts
• Allocating payments against fees
• Producing balance reports
• Reconciling client balances and deposit accounts
• Investigating residual balances
• Working with banking platforms and online banking systems
• Maintaining accurate supporting documentation for ledger postings
• Providing additional cashroom support when required

Required profile

• Previous experience in a busy cashiering or legal finance environment
• Strong numerical skills and a high level of accuracy
• Experience within a law firm is desirable
• Good understanding of SRA Accounts Rules, AML requirements, VAT and client/office ledgers
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Proactive, professional and collaborative attitude
