Legal Cashier – London Law Firm

About the role

We are looking for a Legal Cashier to join a well‑established medium‑sized law firm in the heart of London’s West End. The role involves processing client payments, managing cash operations and supporting the finance team to ensure compliance with SRA and AML regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor bank accounts and process incoming client payments in line with SRA/AML rules.
• Handle queries from secretaries and fee earners regarding the firm’s payment approval system.
• Liaise with the bank’s payments team to resolve payment issues.
• Process client account payments, supplier invoices and staff/partner expenses as required.
• Calculate and invest surplus funds on overnight money market accounts.
• Provide cover for other cashiers and update client interest where necessary.
• Reconcile financial statements to calculate and return residual balances on completed matters.

Required profile

• Experience working as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
• Strong knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage at all levels.
• Resilient, composed under pressure and adaptable to changing business needs.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and able to take initiative.
• Previous experience with the 3E finance system is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with the 3E finance system (desirable).
