Legal Compliance Manager – Surrey

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established specialist law firm that focuses on Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney. The firm is seeking a Legal Compliance Manager to own and drive its firm‑wide compliance and risk agenda, reporting directly to the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with SRA regulations and other legal professional standards.
• Manage AML and financial‑crime controls, including monitoring and reporting.
• Oversee GDPR and data‑protection obligations, handling data‑subject requests and privacy impact assessments.
• Handle client complaints, coordinate resolution and liaise with professional‑negligence insurers.
• Conduct internal audits, compliance reviews and maintain policy registers.
• Lead staff induction and ongoing compliance training programmes.
• Maintain PII renewals, risk assessments and support Lexcel, WIQS and other accreditation processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in legal compliance, preferably within a law‑firm environment.
• Strong understanding of SRA, AML and GDPR requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including the Board.
• Ability to leverage technology to enhance compliance processes.
• Solicitor qualification is advantageous but not essential.
