Legal Counsel (Commercial & Media)

About the role

WPP is seeking a commercially‑savvy Legal Counsel to join its global legal team in London. You will provide practical legal expertise to agency commercial and client teams worldwide, supporting contract negotiations and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts, including client agreements, IP licences, vendor, talent and influencer contracts.
• Develop user‑friendly legal templates and provide guidance on advertising clearance and litigation risk mitigation.
• Support client pitches, contract renegotiations and provide strategic legal advice to WPP agencies globally.
• Train stakeholders on critical legal issues affecting the media and marketing industry, such as IP, advertising, data privacy and AI.
• Collaborate with the global legal team to maintain high professional standards.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience in contract drafting, preferably with commercial or M&A exposure.
• Strong working knowledge of intellectual property, advertising, data privacy and artificial intelligence law.
• Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations and develop strategic commercial approaches.
• Fluent English; additional European languages (especially French or Italian) are highly desirable.
