Legal Counsel – Commercial Solicitor (Energy Sector)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Solicitor to join our legal team in Manchester, supporting a broad range of commercial legal work for the energy sector. The role will involve drafting and negotiating contracts such as terms and conditions, NDAs, MoUs and transaction agreements for Rolls‑Royce SMR projects.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and prepare supply‑chain agreements, design and engineering services contracts, future supply contracts and licensing/confidentiality agreements.
• Provide legal counsel to internal stakeholders, identify and mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with governance frameworks and relevant laws.
• Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, commercial, finance and engineering teams to align contractual terms with business objectives.
• Negotiate favourable terms and resolve contract‑related disputes efficiently.
• Prepare and review legal documents, policies, template contracts, NDAs, data addendums and closing paperwork.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with experience in commercial law, preferably within the energy sector.
• Strong understanding of contract law and ability to interpret and apply legal regulations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally.
