Legal Counsel – Corporate Governance & Compliance

About the role

This 9‑month fixed‑term position provides maternity‑cover for a Legal Counsel within Specsavers' Group Legal team. You will work closely with the Head of Legal – Corporate & Company Secretarial and act as the primary advisor on corporate governance and compliance matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group compliance training, develop legal policies and oversee broader compliance programmes.
• Provide advice on joint‑venture agreements and related documentation.
• Offer ad‑hoc corporate legal guidance and support commercial contract matters.
• Advise senior stakeholders on corporate governance, company secretarial and compliance issues.
• Collaborate with the Legal Resource Team to ensure regulatory obligations are met.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least three years post‑qualification experience.
• Background in corporate or commercial law, with proven experience in corporate governance, company secretarial and compliance matters.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage senior stakeholders and deliver clear, pragmatic advice.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and a collaborative approach.
