Legal Counsel – Global Open Banking & Developer Experience

About the role

Mastercard is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its Global Open Banking and Developer Experience team. Based in London (with responsibilities also covering Copenhagen), the role will support the development and launch of next‑generation open‑banking products across Europe and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal support throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through launch and post‑launch phases.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with customers, suppliers and partners.
• Identify, analyse and advise on legal and regulatory risks associated with open‑banking solutions.
• Develop and implement appropriate controls, policies and processes to mitigate identified risks.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and compliance teams to ensure legal compliance across jurisdictions.
• Support the business on day‑to‑day legal matters and respond to ad‑hoc queries.
• Travel as needed and provide support across multiple time zones.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with several years of experience in financial services or technology law.
• Demonstrated ability to work on complex product development and commercial contracting matters.
• Strong analytical mindset and intellectual curiosity.
• Willingness to travel and work with teams in different locations.
