Legal Counsel – In-house Solicitor (UK)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified solicitor with 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience to join Hitachi Solutions’ in‑house legal team as a Legal Counsel. The role will provide pragmatic legal advice on technology and commercial matters, supporting UK operations and European activities.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including IT services agreements, statements of work, RFP/RFI documentation, NDAs, vendor contracts and marketing agreements.
• Advise on data protection, information security and regulatory compliance, such as GDPR, subject access requests and cross‑border data transfers.
• Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments in the UK and EU, assess their impact and support compliance initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and review of internal policies and governance frameworks.
• Assist with dispute resolution and manage external counsel where required.
• Support employment matters, including employee relations issues, HR policies, employment contracts and legal compliance.
• Provide corporate governance and general commercial support to senior stakeholders.
• Improve legal team precedents and processes and deliver training to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 3–5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
• Good knowledge of data protection, GDPR and information security compliance.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Exposure to European jurisdictions such as France or Germany is a plus.
