About the role
WSL Football is seeking its first dedicated Legal Counsel to support the rapid growth of women’s professional football in England. The role will sit at the heart of the organisation, working closely with senior leaders to provide commercially focused legal advice across a range of business areas.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements including sponsorship, partnership, media, licensing, supplier and technology contracts.
- Provide pragmatic legal guidance to internal stakeholders and support digital transformation projects involving software, SaaS, data processing and data licensing.
- Manage day‑to‑day legal matters such as NDAs, template development, competition terms, and talent or player‑related agreements.
- Help design and implement scalable legal processes, improve workflows and contribute to the development of legal operations.
- Support regulatory and governance matters relevant to football, clubs and external partners.
Required profile
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with commercial experience, preferably in sports, media or technology sectors.
- Comfortable working in an agile, fast‑moving environment and building legal frameworks from the ground up.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to balance day‑to‑day execution with long‑term strategic thinking.
- Interest in the development of women’s football and its broader societal impact.
