Legal Counsel – Regulatory, HSE and Compliance

About the role

This in‑house Legal Counsel position supports a major UK infrastructure and energy project operating in a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment. The role blends legal advice with real‑world delivery, requiring close collaboration with operational, engineering, compliance and leadership teams.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure regulatory compliance across all project activities.
• Provide legal guidance on health, safety and environmental matters.
• Support governance, assurance and incident response investigations.
• Engage with regulators and manage regulator relationships.
• Advise on construction and operational delivery interfaces.

Required profile

• Commercially pragmatic with the ability to balance legal risk and operational realities.
• Resilient and calm under pressure, comfortable navigating ambiguity.
• Strong stakeholder‑management capability.
• Experience engaging with regulators or advising on HS&E, operational compliance, investigations or regulatory governance.
