Legal Officer – Regional Hearing Centre (Glasgow)

About the role

The Legal Officer will join the First‑tier Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber team in Glasgow, supporting the administration of tribunals on a national scale. Working within a Regional Hearing Centre, you will help ensure timely and fair case progression for the public.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake complex case work and assessment activities to advance caseloads.
• Make informed case‑management decisions under delegated judicial powers.
• Liaise with internal HMCTS colleagues and external stakeholders to facilitate effective justice delivery.
• Support the Senior Legal Officer and judicial leadership in processing appeals.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with tribunal procedures.

Required profile

• A law degree or demonstrable equivalent technical experience.
• Ability to reflect on issues, make impartial, evidence‑based decisions.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with a range of court users and stakeholders.
• Capacity to work independently while collaborating with a wider team.
