Level 1 Teaching Assistant – 1:1 ASD Support

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wirral. The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD.
• Use Makaton and a total‑communication approach to aid understanding and expression.
• Implement strategies for Autism, ADHD and Global Developmental Delay.
• Support sensory regulation, especially for a sensory‑seeking pupil.
• Provide intimate care respectfully and with dignity.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow personalised support plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have ASD and additional needs.
• Practical knowledge of Makaton.
• Understanding of ADHD, sensory needs and global developmental delay.
• Experience providing intimate care.
• Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• Calm, patient and adaptable approach.

What we offer

• Part‑time contract (17.5 hours per week) with a daily rate of £95‑£105.
