Level 2/3 Nursery Practitioner – Supply & Permanent Roles

About the role

Academics is seeking enthusiastic Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Practitioners to provide daily supply, contract or permanent staffing for nurseries across Southampton and the surrounding area. You will support early years settings by delivering engaging activities and maintaining high standards of care and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate lessons and play sessions.
• Support children’s development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, observations and safeguarding.
• Collaborate with senior staff to ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
• Adapt to short‑term and long‑term staffing needs across multiple sites.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification (or equivalent).
• Recent experience in a nursery or primary‑school setting.
• Positive, adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or already on the update service).

Required skills

• Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) standards.
• Ability to plan and execute engaging educational activities.
• Effective communication with children, parents and staff.
