Liability Claims Handler – Public Sector (Surrey)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Liability Claims Handler to join a leading global insurance brokerage’s Public Sector team in Surrey. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims for government bodies and public organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage 100‑150 complex Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims from notification through to settlement.
• Handle multi‑track and catastrophic injury claims, including high‑value and litigated matters.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with public sector clients, solicitors, loss adjusters and internal teams.
• Review and interpret policy wordings, legal documents and claims information.
• Analyse claims data and produce insights using Excel and other reporting tools.
• Attend client meetings and industry networking events as required.

Required profile

• Proven technical experience handling Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims.
• Background in an insurer, MGA, TPA, loss adjusting firm, legal practice or similar environment.
• Experience managing complex, litigated or catastrophic injury claims.
• Strong analytical ability and confidence using Excel.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑management skills.
