Lifeguard – Yearsley Swimming Pool, York

About the role

GLL is seeking flexible Lifeguards to be based at Yearsley Swimming Pool in York. You will join a charitable social enterprise that values customer service, safety and team collaboration, providing a career path rather than a simple temporary role.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise pool users and ensure safety throughout the swimming area.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck and surrounding facilities.
• Set up and manage pool equipment for daily operations.
• Deliver first‑class customer service and address visitor queries.
• Support the wider centre by preparing studios, gyms or sports halls and assisting with general cleaning and upkeep.

Required profile

• Calm under pressure with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.
• Team player who can adapt to varied duties.
• Valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with up‑to‑date training records.
