About the role
You will join the Government Legal Department in London, working alongside Ministers, senior officials and other legal professionals. The role involves advising on a wide range of legal matters, providing guidance, and managing a diverse litigation caseload that impacts public policy.
Key responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and strategic guidance to government departments.
- Handle litigation matters from inception to resolution, including case preparation and court representation.
- Collaborate with cross‑departmental teams to ensure consistent legal standards.
- Draft and review legal documents, briefing notes and policy recommendations.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Required profile
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Strong analytical judgement and the ability to deliver balanced, risk‑based advice.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal issues clearly.
- Open‑minded, impartial and able to work collaboratively under pressure.
