Litigation Solicitor

About the role

The Legists are seeking a Litigation Solicitor to join their team in Croydon. You will work alongside senior legal professionals across Government departments, providing advice, handling a diverse caseload and contributing to high‑profile litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Ministers, senior officials and departmental teams on legal issues.
• Prepare and manage litigation files, including drafting pleadings and court submissions.
• Provide guidance on commercial, employment, EU and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with advisory and advisory teams to deliver risk‑based solutions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation and case law relevant to public sector work.

Required profile

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Strong analytical judgement and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
• Open‑minded, impartial and able to work collaboratively under pressure.
• Willingness to develop expertise across litigation, advisory, commercial and employment law.

Required skills

• Legal research and case analysis.
• Drafting of legal documents and court filings.
• Understanding of UK public sector legislation and procedures.
