Local Authority Designated Officer – Safeguarding

About the role

Our client, Leicestershire County Council, is seeking a Local Authority Designated Officer to join its Safeguarding team. The role involves protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the designated safeguarding officer for the authority, overseeing safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Coordinate investigations and referrals concerning safeguarding concerns.
• Provide advice and support to staff, partners and external agencies on safeguarding matters.
• Maintain accurate records and produce safeguarding reports for senior management.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to promote best practice.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in safeguarding, social care or related public sector roles.
• Strong understanding of UK safeguarding legislation and best practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and procedures.
• Experience with case management and reporting.
