Locum Child Care Lawyer (Hybrid)

About the role

This is a locum position within a well‑established Child Law Team, delivering specialist public‑law services for children. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work from home while attending essential meetings and court hearings on site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of complex child protection and care proceedings.
• Prepare and issue care proceedings applications, legal documentation, witness statements and court pleadings.
• Assemble court bundles and supporting material.
• Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to social‑care teams and represent the authority in Family Court.
• Attend legal planning meetings, case conferences and liaise with counsel, experts, external agencies and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure all work meets high standards and complies with court timetables.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx Lawyer.
• Significant experience handling public‑law children matters.
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Public Law Outline (PLO), care proceedings and child‑protection law.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload with minimal supervision.
