Locum Education Lawyer (Remote, Part‑time)

About the role
The role is a locum Education Lawyer position supporting Surrey County Council on a three‑month rolling basis. The successful candidate will work remotely, with the option of full‑time or part‑time hours, handling education‑law matters for the council.
Key responsibilities
- Manage SEN‑related pre‑action enquiries and judicial review applications.
- Handle complaints and legal advice concerning education matters.
- Provide timely legal support to the council’s education department.
Required profile
- Qualified solicitor, barrister or Fellow of CILEX eligible to practice in England and Wales.
- Current or obtainable practising certificate from the relevant regulatory authority.
- Experience working within a local authority or similar public sector environment.
Required skills
- Expertise in education law, including SEN legislation and judicial review procedures.
- Strong analytical and legal drafting abilities.
