Locum Junior Planning Lawyer – Remote, up to £50/hr

About the role

This temporary position offers a qualified junior planning lawyer the chance to work primarily remotely for a respected local authority in the East Midlands. The role is full‑time (or three days a week) for a 3‑6 month period, providing exposure to public‑sector planning and highways law.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and negotiating Section 106 agreements.
• Support drafting of Highways Agreements under Sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act.
• Provide planning‑law advice under supervision.
• Contribute to policy and strategic planning advice.
• Support officers and stakeholders on planning and highways matters.
• Help deliver a high‑quality legal service for the authority.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent).
• Experience in planning law, preferably within a local authority.
• Exposure to Section 106 agreements.
• Interest in developing expertise in highways law and agreements.
