Locum Litigation Lawyer – Remote, £55-£60/hr

About the role

Venn Group is supporting a South West local authority in hiring an experienced Litigation Lawyer on a locum basis. The role is predominantly remote, with occasional court attendance, and is intended for an initial 3‑6 month period.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of civil and criminal litigation matters, including claims, possessions, rent arrears, injunctions, licensing appeals, trading standards, highways advice, judicial reviews and pre‑action protocol letters.
• Review case files, evaluate evidence, analyse witness statements and draft court applications, orders and related documentation.
• Attend court and tribunal hearings, conduct advocacy, and brief counsel where required.
• Liaise with external agencies and partners to progress cases.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer – Solicitor, Barrister or senior CILEX professional.
• Recent experience in local government legal work.
• Proven background in both civil and criminal litigation.

• Case file review and evidence assessment.
• Liaison with external agencies.
