Machine Learning Engineer – Hybrid (Manchester or Haywards Heath)

About the role

The Markerstudy Group is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join its hybrid team in Manchester (or Haywards Heath). You will help create fully automated machine‑learning pipelines that support cutting‑edge insurance risk modelling and pricing across motor, home and commercial lines.

Key responsibilities

• Report to senior stakeholders such as the Head of Data Science and the Director of Technical Underwriting.
• Propose, proof‑of‑concept, develop and deliver novel machine‑learning processes that automate manual workflows.
• Collaborate closely with data‑science teams to deploy state‑of‑the‑art models.
• Tune machine‑learning methods for optimal performance.
• Deploy and maintain models in an MLOps‑enabled pipeline using test‑driven development and SOLID coding standards.
• Contribute to a culture of coding and data excellence.
• Lead, coach and mentor junior ML engineers as needed.

Required profile

• Strong programming background with a focus on delivering production‑ready machine‑learning solutions.
• Experience working in a collaborative, stakeholder‑focused environment.
• Willingness to lead and mentor less‑experienced engineers.
