Machine Learning Tech Lead – Workforce Management

About the role

Monzo is looking for a Machine Learning Tech Lead to own the ML strategy for its Workforce Management vertical. You will guide the design and delivery of forecasting, supply‑demand matching, routing and escalation models that keep our customer‑support operations fast, efficient and resilient.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the ML roadmap for Workforce Management, identifying high‑impact use cases.
• Lead the end‑to‑end development of production ML systems for demand forecasting, routing, assignment and time‑to‑completion prediction.
• Stay hands‑on with technical details: problem framing, model selection, validation design and safe deployment.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data and operations leaders to translate ambiguous operational challenges into iterative ML solutions.
• Mentor and grow a team of Machine Learning Scientists embedded in cross‑functional product squads.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, Senior ML Scientist or Senior ML Engineer.
• Recent hands‑on experience building and shipping ML models.
• Strong quantitative thinking, pragmatic delivery mindset and solid product judgement.
• Comfort with rigorous ML, forecasting, optimisation and operations‑research problems.
