Maintenance Engineer – Shift Cover (Bristol)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to provide ad‑hoc shift cover across multiple manufacturing sites in the Bristol area. The role offers flexible, on‑site assignments that allow you to work around your existing commitments while supporting a variety of production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults using technical documentation.
• Fault‑find on 3‑phase electrical systems, drives, PLC I/O, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term solutions.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to maximise equipment reliability.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and to a high standard.

Required profile

• Completed engineering apprenticeship (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in manufacturing or production environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently across different sites.
