Maintenance Operative

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Maintenance Operative to join our award‑winning team at Elvy Court Care Home in Sittingbourne. You will keep the building and its grounds in excellent condition, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the home.
• Assist new residents with setting up their rooms according to their preferences.
• Carry out routine re‑decoration and upkeep to maintain high standards.
• Monitor stock of consumables, advise on quality, and order replacements as needed.
• Provide out‑of‑hours emergency service and participate in the on‑call rota.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience in a general maintenance or handyman role, or a relevant trade qualification.
• Full driving licence.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to urgent requests at short notice.
