Maintenance Operative – Social Housing (Luton)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Operative to join a leading social housing maintenance team covering properties across Luton and surrounding areas. The role involves delivering essential repairs and maintenance services to both occupied and void social housing units, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and resident satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned maintenance works.
• Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating repairs.
• Undertake minor patch plastering and making‑good tasks.
• Replace fixtures, fittings, locks, hinges and door furniture.
• Conduct routine property inspections and identify repair requirements.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Operative, Handyman, Multi‑Trader or Multi‑Skilled Operative.
• Experience within social housing, housing association or local authority property services.
• Good all‑round maintenance skills across multiple trades.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Own tools preferred.
