Management Accountant – Hybrid (Brighton)

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑focused Management Accountant to join a fast‑growing multi‑brand consumer business with a strong e‑commerce presence. The role is hybrid, based in Brighton/Hove, and reports to the Financial Controller, taking ownership of management accounts for a key division while contributing to finance transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and produce variance analysis with commentary against budgets and forecasts.
• Own product and margin reporting to support commercial decision‑making.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls.
• Assist with statutory accounts preparation, audit support and VAT compliance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning activities.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities using Excel, Power Query, Power BI and AI tools.
• Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight and deliver ad‑hoc commercial analysis for senior management.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or finalist).
• Proven experience preparing monthly management accounts and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Strong commercial awareness and a desire to improve processes.
• Interest in technology, automation and practical AI applications in finance.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including Power Query.
• Power BI.
• Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tools for finance automation.
