Managing Director, Restructuring Tax Advisory

About the role

The Teneo Financial Advisory tax team is expanding and seeks a Managing Director to lead its Restructuring Tax Advisory practice. You will advise on tax aspects of complex restructuring and insolvency cases, working closely with lenders, sponsors, management teams and insolvency practitioners to deliver tax‑efficient solutions under tight timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Originating, leading and executing restructuring tax engagements while generating revenue and building client relationships.
• Driving business development, leveraging an established network to expand mandates and cross‑sell Teneo services.
• Shaping the strategic growth of the practice through marketing, recruitment and collaborative go‑to‑market activities.
• Providing clear, commercially focused tax advice to both tax and non‑tax audiences in distressed situations such as refinancings, debt restructurings and formal insolvencies.
• Collaborating with legal, financial and restructuring advisers to identify risks, develop solutions and support transaction documentation.
• Engaging directly with senior stakeholders to support negotiations and decision‑making.
• Building, mentoring and leading a high‑performing team, overseeing risk management and compliance throughout engagements.

Required profile

• Proven track record of originating and delivering revenue in a restructuring or insolvency environment.
• Deep expertise in UK direct tax and extensive experience advising on distressed situations.
• Strong commercial understanding of debt markets, capital structures, loan documentation and restructuring mechanics.
• Well‑established network of contacts among lawyers, lenders, sponsors and advisers.
