Manufacturing Engineering Lead

About the role

iCOMAT is seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineering Lead to head the Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling capability at one of its composite‑focused plants. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and working closely with Operations, you will combine technical delivery with team leadership to support rapid‑scale production of lightweight composite parts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the local Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling teams, set objectives, develop capability and plan workload.
• Own the plant’s Manufacturing Engineering delivery plan, aligning priorities with Operations and Engineering.
• Perform hands‑on engineering work, including process design, tooling specification and method development.
• Support Business Development with quotations, manufacturing methodology, process assumptions, tooling requirements and cost estimates.
• Assist product design teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Create production routings, Bills of Materials (BoMs) and full Methods of Manufacture (MoMs) covering step‑by‑step instructions, health & safety, COSHH assessments, equipment and material specifications.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Manufacturing Engineering within a production environment.
• Background in both composite manufacturing and metallic machining/tooling is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage project workloads.
