Marketing Director – UK & Ireland (Surgical Division)

About the role

Alcon is hiring a Marketing Director for its Surgical division covering the United Kingdom and Ireland. The role leads a team of specialist Product Managers and is accountable for developing and executing short‑ and long‑term marketing strategies across the full Surgical product portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business and marketing plans that drive top‑line growth, market‑share expansion and portfolio profitability.
• Provide ongoing market insights and strategic recommendations to enhance performance and support new surgical technology introductions.
• Design and run marketing programmes and campaigns aligned with brand strategy, including competitor reviews and market assessments.
• Support pre‑launch planning, launch execution and post‑launch performance evaluation, creating customer‑focused messaging.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with Sales, Strategic Accounts, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access and Commercial Excellence teams.
• Establish and nurture relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and other stakeholders to maximise return on marketing investment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Commerce, Business, Marketing or related field; MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, product management or commercial roles, preferably within medical devices, ophthalmology or healthcare.
• Proven capability in strategic marketing, portfolio management and successful product launches.
• Strong analytical skills with experience using customer, market and performance data to drive decisions.
• Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
