MASH Social Worker – Hybrid (50% Remote)

About the role

Wigan Council is looking for a qualified MASH Social Worker to join its Children’s Front Door service. The position is fully desk‑based, split evenly between home and office, and focuses on rapid risk triage, screening and multi‑agency information sharing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage initial safeguarding referrals and alerts, gathering intelligence via telephone and email.
• Conduct all assessments remotely, with no field visits or face‑to‑face family contact.
• Apply threshold criteria and signpost families to appropriate Level 2, 3 or 4 interventions.
• Collaborate with partner agencies such as police, education and health to build a comprehensive risk picture.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with an active Social Work England registration.
• Post‑qualifying experience in a statutory children’s safeguarding environment (MASH, Duty & Assessment, Front Door preferred).
• Strong analytical ability to make fast, evidence‑based decisions and write concise rationales.
• Commitment to a 50% home‑working, 50% office hybrid schedule.
