Maths & English Lecturer – Functional Skills

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Maths and English Lecturer to deliver high‑quality functional skills teaching at a leading further education college in Leeds. The role involves supporting learners to achieve their academic goals and progress onto further study or employment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English or Maths for further education learners.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and additional support where needed.
• Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
• Assist with student recruitment, guidance, and progression activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high departmental standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in English or Maths.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PTLLS, or equivalent).
• Proven experience delivering high‑quality teaching and learning in a further education setting.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with a learner‑focused approach.
• Experience of team management or leading standards is desirable.
