M&E Quantity Surveyor – Oxford

About the role

Brandon James Ltd is seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join its Oxford team. You will manage the commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical packages across the full project lifecycle, from early feasibility to final account. The role offers exposure to technically complex MEP‑led projects within a multidisciplinary consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare M&E cost plans, estimates and project budgets.
• Review mechanical and electrical designs from a commercial perspective.
• Produce tender documentation and analyse specialist MEP submissions.
• Manage valuations, variations, change control and payment recommendations.
• Monitor project costs and produce regular financial reports.
• Support procurement strategy for mechanical and electrical packages.
• Negotiate final accounts with contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Collaborate closely with clients, engineers and wider project teams throughout delivery.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Building Services or a related construction discipline.
• Relevant UK experience in M&E Quantity Surveying or building services commercial management.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and associated construction costs.
• Experience across both pre‑ and post‑contract stages.
• Working towards MRICS, MCIOB or another recognised construction qualification is advantageous.
• Strong numerical, reporting and client‑facing communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of JCT contracts.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
